Ars Poetica

It’s like massive amnesia,

a profound forgetting

of all I thought I knew

from the frozen, clotted years.

It’s a blood-letting,

a liquefaction of tears

long dried up and forgotten

through habit of disuse,

an excuse, really,

a kind of scam

or shill to lure me

into the scheme

of what I believe

and finally, am.
