The Given Size of Things

I’m getting smaller and smaller, my right size

Almost achieved. But that won’t last. I’ll fall

Straight through. Loved ones will close attend.

I wonder what my point of view will do

With the information of eyes distraught?

They say you care less and less for the things

And loves of this world. Letting go, they say,

Starts out slow, imperceptible at first,

This and that, particulars of no matter,

Then it gathers and everything is tossed.

I hate this idea. Besides, I’ve erred

That way too much already. When it comes,

I want madly madly to be in love

With all the Earth and what I knew of her.
